US names new warship after 2004 Iraq battles despite controversial legacy

The United States is to name a new warship after notorious battles of Fallujah it fought in Iraq in 2004, in which human rights groups claim Washington committed war crimes, something the US itself denies. Former US Marine Ross Caputi believes ‘naming the battleship Fallujah further contributes to the false sense of what happened there and is inappropriate.’
