The Pawpaw or Asimina triloba is an incredibly cold hardy native fruit tree. It can survive all the way down to plant hardiness zone 5. They prefer shade for the first couple of years, and afterwards like full sun exposure for largest fruit set. Get a grafted fruit tree in order to get fruit set faster. 2 to 3 trees is a must to insure pollination and fruit production. Not a large tree and won't take up much space. Prone to suckering. Hardiness: Zones 5-9
