At a news conference on Parliament Hill, Justice Minister David Lametti announces that the federal government intends to delay its planned expansion of medical assistance in dying laws. The changes, which would have come into effect March 17, 2023, would have allowed people whose sole underlying condition was mental illness to access medically assisted death. Mental Health and Addictions Minister Carolyn Bennett is also in attendance.
