On Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. ET, Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, held the Subcommittee’s biannual hearing to assess implementation of various information technology (IT) best practices, including requirements from the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) and the Modernizing Government Technology Act (MGT). The hearing will follow the Subcommittee’s release of the 15th iteration of its FITARA Scorecard.
Since its inception, FITARA has been a proven tool for Congress, chief information officers, agency heads, and outside stakeholders to understand how federal agencies manage and secure their IT assets. The Scorecard has also been instrumental in driving Federal IT modernization and helping Congress hold federal agencies accountable for implementing fundamental and evolving best IT practices.
This hearing will review the evolution of the FITARA Scorecard and assess the future of the Scorecard and other significant laws and policies affecting federal IT. In addition, the hearing will be an opportunity to discuss how the Subcommittee will continue to conduct oversight of federal IT management, acquisition, and cybersecurity into the 118th Congress.
