Historic strike hits UK's National Health Service

Nurses for the United Kingdom's treasured universal healthcare system have launched a labor walkout for the first time in their union's 106-year history. The taxpayer-funded NHS enjoys an iconic status in the UK, but its hospitals are stretched thin, face massive COVID-induced backlogs, and staff say they've suffered a decade of de-facto pay cuts.
