Boeing C 17A Globemaster III Landing at Gibraltar Airport 4K Incredible Sight! RRR6614 RAF
British Royal Air Force Boeing C-17A Globemaster III (RRR6614 RAF) lands at Gibraltar International Airport after a failed first landing attempt and completing a go-around!
Honestly is completely mesmerizing for an aircraft of this size to land on such a short runway!
The runway is on 1,778 Meters/5,833 Feet long. So its very short and surrounded by water on both ends!
I heard the first attempt from my office, watched it on #flightradar24 and saw it coming back around, so I quickly went outside to capture this beauty as close as I could before it landed. My usual spot (as you can see in my other videos on this channel), was a little too far away for me to get to in time. But still this was an amazing site to see!!! get closer to the tarmac than any other airport at Gibraltar International Airport, you can walk across it! I don't know of any other major international airport in the world where you can do this! Up close 4K plane spotting at one of the most DANGEROUS and EXTREME airports int he world! Subscribe for more!
I love how these planes land on a tarmac that is surrounded on all sides by water. This is a must watch to see how close to the water these planes land and take off. There are very few airports in the world like this, that could support commercial airline jets to land and take off under such extreme conditions.
Gibraltar is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because the runway is short, it is surrounded by water on both ends of the tarmac, an international highway bisects the tarmac with cars, bikes and people on foot crossing. The weather caused by the Strait of Gibraltar can lead to brutal crosswinds. The pilots who land here have to be very qualified. Flights to Gibraltar are currently only from the United Kingdom because Gibraltar International Airport is technically a military airport not a civilian one.
