Section 418 of the Crimes Act 1900 provides that a person is not criminally responsible for an offence if the person carries out the offence in self-defence.

Verdict: That was not excessive force at all. You reacted with constraint to a clear attack. Your focus was on the camera viewfinder and you were surprised by someone grabbing your right forearm, you responded by pushing away so as to protect yourself. You were not given any opportunity to see who the assailant was or what their age happened to be.
If I was minding my own business and someone grabbed my arm I would strike to the throat, eyes or groin In order to incapacitate the assailant to allow me to look around and respond to any other threat. You showed incredible constraint by merely pushing and not striking.
The question we should all be asking is why haven’t the police arrested the person that attacked you???
