In recent years in Antwerp, multiple grenade attacks have been perpetrated and have made the Belgian and Dutch newspapers talk. These attacks are strongly linked to Belgian-Dutch organized crime of Moroccan origin, partly responsible for the violence that erupts in Belgium and the Netherlands. Dozens of murders, drug trafficking via the port of Antwerp, corruption, SKY ECC operation or even the story of Ridouan Taghi: the man presented by the Dutch press as the Toto Riina of the Netherlands. There is a rise in the power of drugs mafia especially in cocaine trade which allows mafia gangs to operate in long-term. 2021 was a record year for the amount of cocaine being smuggled through the port of Antwerp, which highlights the problem.Show more
