Biden signs Respect for Marriage Act today, despite voting, speaking against gay marriage as senator

President Biden is scheduled to sign the Respect for Marriage Act today. The Respect for Marriage Act is a bill which mandates federal protection for same-sex and interracial marriages. However, this was not always his position. As a senator, Biden had voted to block federal recognition of same-sex marriages, and for years, said that marriage should take place between a man and a woman.
