If we look at the modern world, there are businesses built solely to provide services, but these businesses did not exist – at least not in the same way – hundreds of years ago. Even if we cover the evolution of industries since the 17th century, the change has been baffling. While businesses that provide services are unequivocally considered companies today, they were not treated the same way in the Middle Ages.
