When we eat foods with an inappropriate
balance between
-sodium
-potassium
-calcium
-magnesium
-glucose
All essential elements for the brain to function...
-is a physiological difference [for migrainers]
built on top of
-an anatomical difference [more sensory neuron connectors]
-so NEED MORE of these elements, but have LESS

The pumps don't function very well...
-this is the start of the migraine
[the breaking down of this system]
-for being low in sodium or potassium
[and water]
-OR there is too much glucose
When anyone consumes glucose,
-it replaces sodium & water when it enters the cell
When migrainer consumes glucose [ANY CARB]
-causes eflux of sodium & water from the cell
-disrupt the electrolyte
-leading to the migraine
"If carbs are NOT EATEN, this will not happen"

Question: Why not eat carbs, add extra salt?
-potassium will get out of balance
[if eat sweet potato, has potassium, okay]
But, if eating a piece of cake...
-grains [gluten or not] and pure sugar
-then you take in salt,,,,will be in trouble
~will have an electrolyte imbalance
-our kidney system [renin-angiotensin aldosterone system]
-our blood circulates about 5 times per hour, so
"Have 12 minutes before excess sodium washed out of body"
Eating carbs & salt will cause electrolyte imbalance
-kidneys will dump sodium & SPARE potassium,
leading to imbalance
