Alfred R Wallace is the most towering scientific figure on earth to have disbelieved in any benefit of the original smallpox vaccine (or any vaccine). He also was the first person to officially write down the theory of natural selection (jointly published with Charles Darwin; Alfred wrote 'it' down first (in total)).
