1906 Milk Lemonade.
20th Century Cook Book
Maude C. Cooke
1 1/2 lbs sugar
1/2 pint lemon juice
1 1/2 pints milk
Sugar, 1 1/2 pounds, dissolved in a quart of boiling water, together with half a pint of lemon juice and 1 1/2 pints of milk. This makes a cooling, agreeable, nourishing beverage.
Did we drink it? Most of it
Would I make it again? No
Notes: I couldn’t keep it from curdling. Some other recipes suggest stirring as you combine or straining afterwards.
