Steeler for Life, Through Thick and Thin with Guest Ben Roethlisberger
According to Ben Roethlisberger, “Football is not who I am, it’s what I do.” He spent the first four decades of his life becoming one of the greatest quarterbacks in football history. But for the next 40 years, he wants to further expand God's kingdom. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the two-time Super Bowl champion and former quarterback of the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers highlights his favorite football moments and shares the importance of faith and family, and his plans for life in retirement, including the mission to start a new foundation. Standing 6 feet, 5 inches tall, “Big Ben” reveals that the manliest thing a dad can do is be vulnerable with his kids.
About Today's Guest: Ben Roethlisberger
Ben Roethlisberger is a two-time Super Bowl champion, having played quarterback with the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers for 18 seasons. He was decorated with an “Offensive Rookie of the Year Award,” and was a six-time Pro Bowl selection. Ben was selected in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft and rose to fame after he led the Steelers to a victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL at the young age of 23. Upon retirement, he ranked 5th all-time in NFL career passing yards (64,088), 8th all-time in touchdowns (418), and 5th in completions among quarterbacks with a minimum of 1,500 career attempts. In addition, Roethlisberger, also known as “Big Ben,” had the fourth-highest career winning percentage (.710) as a starter in the regular season among quarterbacks with a minimum of 100 starts, and was one of six starters in the NFL’s history to have beaten at least 31 of the current 32 teams. Apart from football, Ben and his family have started a foundation with the mission of forging stronger families. He and his wife, Ashley, have three children and make their home in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
