1875 Cranberry Drink.
Eating for Strength

1 tea-cupful cranberries
Water
1 large spoonful oatmeal
A slice of lemon
Sugar
Mash a tea-cupful of clean fresh cranberries in a cup of cold water. Boil a large spoonful of oatmeal and a slice of a lemon in two quarts of water; add the cranberries and as much sugar as will sweeten to the taste. Boil for half an hour and strain.
Did we drink it? Yes
Would I make it again? Yes but probably without the oatmeal.
