Julius Evola's Revolt Against the Modern World - Episode 13: Universality and Centralism
In this episode in our series on Julius Evola 's "Revolt Against the Modern World", we cover Chapter 12: Universality and Centralism. In the last episode, we explored the proper relationship between priesthood and regality and the synthesis between temporal power and spiritual authority that produces a sacred regality. In this episode, we look at the importance of the spiritual centre that the sacred king provides to the empire, how it provides a reference point for a unity of peoples, and what happens when that spiritual centre doesn't exist anymore. Spoiler alert: you get a lot of attempts at empire that are really just about domination and subjugation, that attempt to force an artificial unity through the erasure of unique cultures and heritages, and that are ultimately doomed to fail.
Useful terms to know:
Sacred Centre: This is a term we use a LOT in this series and it is now becoming especially important you understand what it means. The centre (the centrality to which the title refers) is that of the axle of a wheel (see episode 4 for more on this). This is the stable point at the centre of something rotating. The sacred king or emperor represents this stability, and so the loss of the centre has the effect that you might imagine if the wheel axle broke- things go spinning wildly out of control. This idea of the centre is a fundamental concept in a Traditionalist worldview.

Lyrics to the closing song:
REMEMBER YOUR NAME
Rome is still burning
no guards to be found
Driven before them
No longer the proud
Darkness has fallen
But Nero he sleeps
There are only downtrodden
No sweet comfortable peace
Nothing can stop them
No fence can hold
These gates are so ancient
We even forgot how they close
Stolen the light of the world
Will offer to see
Offer the light of the world
To those that can see
Offer the light of the world
To those that can still see
Remember your name
Remember who you were born to be
Remember your duty my son
Here before the judgement of history
Remember your place
In the space where the Heavenly Father dwells
In the palace of golden light
Take solace on this endless night
This is your time, This is the moment
There can be no compromise
There can be no denouement
This is your time, this is the moment
When everything is put to the test
Every falsehood must be put to rest
Remember your name
Remember who you were born to be
Remember your duty my son
Here before the judgement of history
Avenge me my sons
Here before the judgement of history
Rise up my sons
Here before the judgement of history
Arya rise
Arya rise
Arya rise
