Prominent Russian opposition figure Ilya Yashin was on Friday sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison over his comments criticising Russia's military campaign in Ukraine. He was charged with spreading "false information" about the military. Yashin was tried over a YouTube video released in April wherein he talked about alleged atrocities by Russian forces in the Kyiv suburb of Bucha.
