Injured Baby Coachwhip

Our poor little baby coachwhip snake, who was attacked by a cat several weeks ago, is still hanging in there. He suffered serious spinal trauma in the attack and though he's survived the puncture wounds, against the odds, and didn't sustain a mortal wound to a vital organ, he was left disabled with paresis. He can only move the upper 1/3rd of his body normally, and his muscle/nerve impulses are weak on the lower 2/3rd. This means he cannot move normally and without great effort. He has to inch his way forward in small increments by throwing his upper body forward, and pulling the rest. He may improve with more time to heal, but it's more likely to be permanent damage.

Keep your cats INSIDE! I don't care how much they don't like it. The domesticated "house cat" is the most destructive non-native and invasive animal on the continent. Zebra mussels are not as destructive. Burmese Pythons are not as destructive. "Murder hornets" are not as destructive. European Starlings, House Sparrows, and Eurasian Collared Doves are not as destructive. In fact, all of these put together and multiplied by several factors are not as destructive to the biodiversity of wildlife on this continent, as the domesticated cat is.
