Often doctors may use the birth control pill to treat patients symptoms and not address underlying health issues. While it is firmly against Catholic teaching to use hormonal blockers with the intent to contracept, it is absolutely not immoral to take birth control for non-contraceptive reasons under doctor's prescription, but women should be wary that birth control can often be used as a false-treatment that paints-over the true cause for your symptoms. Make sure you are having conversations with your doctor that leave you feeling validated, respected, heard, and confident.
