Elizabeth Chase "Lizzie" Olsen was born on February 16, 1989 in the city of Sherman Oaks (California), in the United States. Elizabeth is the younger sister of twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

She began acting in the theater as a child and participated in numerous productions starring her older sisters. She finished high school in 2007 at Campbell Hall School; she and she subsequently attended and graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, also training with the Atlantic Theater Company.

Although Lizzie has been acting since she was 4 years old, mainly with brief appearances in films by Mary Kate and Ashley, her first leading role dates back to 2011, the year that marked her takeoff, with three productions on the bill.

The first of these is the horror film "Silent House", in which she led the cast accompanied by Adam Trese and Eric Sheffer Stevens. Elizabeth is also the protagonist of "Martha Marcy May Marlene" a thriller in which she plays a young woman who escapes from a cult and must start her life over with her sister and her brother-in-law.
