Finland celebrating independence day on 6th December
On 18 December 1917 (31 December N.S.), the Soviet Russian government issued a decree recognizing Finland's independence, and on 22 December (4 January 1918 N.S.) it was approved by the highest Soviet executive body, the All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTsIK)
â—¾The winter war began December 1939 when the Soviets reclaimed to Finland small territories of Russian ethnics, hostilities ceased in March 1940 with the signing of the Moscow Peace Treaty in which Finland ceded 9% of its territory to the Soviet Union, they lost more territory than the Soviet had previously demanded.
â—¾After 15 months of Interim Peace, in June 1941, Germany commenced Operation Barbarossa, and the Continuation War between Nazi allied Finland and the Soviets began.
