What is Drain Spin

It's a favourite ghee-whiz science notion that, like cyclonic winds, toilets and sinks drain counterclockwise in the Northern hemisphere but clockwise in locations below the equator.
Unfortunately, it isn't actually true.
The typical hurricane is some 300 miles across, whereas a drain is but a few inches in diameter.
For objects travelling such short distances, the effect of Earth's rotation is vanishingly small.
Indeed, it's entirely possible to find that in a single bathroom, the sink drains in one direction, the toilet in another.
What matters are the dynamics of water before it hits the bowl as well as the shape of the bowl and location of the drain.
