Pumpkin Spider

A cute name and colors but at the end of the day it's still a spider, an orb weaver, Araneus marmoreus. Harmless to people and mostly hidden in woodsy settings. Adult pumpkin spiders are active from the middle of summer until the first frost. They breed and lay hundreds of eggs in the fall in cocoons that will hatch in the spring. The young molt several times and emerge as adults in the summer. The cycle then repeats. And a very familiar children's song : ) Comments Welcome
