Engage your students by teaching about the history of Christmas in the United States. This is a fun and relevant way to learn about the origins of Christmas and about the historical development of this joyful tradition from ancient days in the Middle East to Europe to the U.S. Students will learn about the history of the Christmas tree, mistletoe, the Christmas wreath, and even the song "Jingle Bells."

Additionally, students will even learn about the Nativity, Saturnalia, Yuletide, and more. It even has some interested facts about George Washington's crossing of the Delaware on Christmas during the American Revolution and the truce between soldiers during World War I when soldiers stopped to greet each other and celebrate before returning to battle.

Please note: one slide at the end of the presentations asks students about their family's Christmas traditions. It also asks about their special traditions if they celebrate a different festival like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, or Chinese New Year.
