Lessons From Pearl Harbor

The United States largely stayed neutral in World War II until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor 81 years ago, today. At 7:55 AM on December 7th, 1941, Pearl Harbor sustained wave after wave of attack from the Japanese military, ultimately killing 2,400 Americans. The event forced the United States off of the sidelines and into leading the free world. The United States never looked back.

81 years later, forces on the left, and the right seem to wish to put the American giant back to sleep. They want to abdicate American leadership in the world for various reasons. On the left, they are playing a very dangerous game of abdicating the western alliance’s responsibility for energy independence at a time China and Russia are wooing the Middle Eastern dictators to their side.
