A leading US defence contractor admits helping the government feed military intelligence to Ukraine despite Washington's denial of any direct involvement in the conflict. In September John Kirby made statements to Fox news here https://www.foxnews.com/media/kirby-says-us-war-russia-putins-nuclear-threat-nothing-farther-truth
"National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby reiterated on "America's Newsroom" that despite military support of Ukraine, the U.S. is not directly involved in Putin's war.

"No, we are not, not at all," Kirby said when asked about U.S. involvement. "Russia is at war inside Ukraine, and despite the rhetoric we heard from Putin last night, trying once again to make this about the West versus Russia or the United States versus Russia or NATO versus Russia, nothing can be farther from the truth."

Pres. Putin spoke at Council for the Development of Civil Society & Human Rights meeting today (I will try and get a copy of this and the transcript, for now the whole meeting can be seen on VK https://vk.com/video-154921046_456249342 - no VPN needed)

RT reports from Saudi Arabia where China's president arrives for a summit to boost Beijing-Gulf ties. That's as both countries' strained relations with the US leave Washington sidelined.

Israel: Sahreen Abu-Akleh - new eveidence has emerged in the killing of the much loved journalist but USA says it does not support the investigation. USA opposes the ICC (International Criminal Court) and interferes with it constantly, despite not being a member of it.

You may recall in 2020 USA applied sanctions: "On September 2, 2020, the United States government imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, and another senior prosecution official, Phakiso Mochochoko. In addition, US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo announced that the United States had restricted the issuance of visas for certain unnamed individuals “involved in the ICC’s efforts to investigate US personnel.”

Washington opposes Al Jazeera's International Criminal Court lawsuit over the killing of its journalist back in May despite the fact that the slain Palestinian reporter also held US citizenship.

In Germany there have been arrests of citizens who want to overthrow the government in a coup. (QS: they've been categorised as far right - are they far right to want peace and change from deliberate anti-citizen activity and corruption on a scale never before known? - I don't know. Peaceful means must always be the way forward but these governments are not going to leave quietly it seems, meanwhile they endanger us all)

------ Ukraine operation could take a long time – Putin

Russia has already achieved significant victories, the president claimed

The military operation in Ukraine may go on for a while, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday, in a meeting with the Council for Civil Society and Human Rights. Addressing a question about the duration of hostilities that escalated in February, Putin said that achieving all the objectives will take time, but pointed to, what he called, several major gains already won.

“Of course, this might be a lengthy process,” Putin said, insisting that the conflict really began in 2014, when the US backed a nationalist coup in Kiev. He contended that Moscow had little choice but to intervene in February, to defend the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk – which have since voted to join Russia, along with most of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

“These new territories are a major gain for Russia,” the president said. “Even Peter the Great sought access to the Azov Sea, and it is now an internal sea of the Russian Federation.”

“Most importantly, the people who live there showed in a referendum that they want to be in Russia and feel they are part of our world,” Putin said. “They are now with us, millions of them, and that is the greatest outcome.”

Putin also said there was “no point” in discussing additional mobilization measures, as the more than 300,000 reservists called up to fill the ranks of the military were quite sufficient. In fact, some of the Donbass students who have been fighting for years are in the process of mustering out so they can finish their studies.

The Russian president also said that Western European leaders now objecting to the military operation “fall silent” when he reminds them their countries were supposed to guarantee the peace process in Ukraine since 2014.

EU leaders negotiated a peaceful end to the Maidan turmoil just before the Western-backed nationalists violently seized power in February that year. France and Germany later negotiated a ceasefire between Kiev and the Donbass republics in Minsk, but did nothing to uphold or promote it. Earlier this year, former Ukrainian president Pyotr Poroshenko openly admitted the ceasefire was a tactic to buy time so Kiev could build up an army for a military solution.

continued..... Russia doesn't need additional mobilization – Putin

Around half of the recently mobilized 300,000 troops are still in reserve, Russian president says

Additional mobilization is currently off the table, Russian President Vladimir Putin signaled on Wednesday. He made the remarks during a meeting with members of the country’s Council for Civil Society and Human Rights.

Around a half of 300,000 soldiers recently mobilized in Russia remain in reserve and are training at centers across Russia, Putin revealed, with the other half already deployed to the combat zone.

“Among those 150,000 in the battle groups, only half – that’s 77,000 – are with frontline units, the rest are on the second or third lines, essentially performing the functions of territorial defense troops, or undergoing additional training,” Putin stated.

There’s simply no point in talking about some additional mobilization measures – neither the State nor the Defense Ministry need that today.

Putin’s remarks come amid rumors of a further mobilization of reservists to fight in the Ukraine conflict. Russian authorities, however, have repeatedly denied harboring plans for any such additional measure.

The partial mobilization began in the country with a presidential decree in late September, with the Defense Ministry later announcing its call-up of 300,000 reservists, to bolster the ranks of the country’s military amid the conflict, had been completed.

On October 31, the Russian president said that the “mobilization is over,” and that he would consult with lawyers on whether a separate decree was required to formally end the draft. The Kremlin subsequently said that a decree, of that type, was not necessary.
