“Myth: Dying with Dignity Canada is advocating to kill infants with disabilities.
Fact: Dying With Dignity Canada has never advocated for medical assistance in dying for infants, with or without a disability. We believe mature minors (individuals at least 12 years of age and capable of making decisions with respect to their health) should be allowed the right to choose MAID with special eligibility criteria in place. In many jurisdictions across Canada, mature minors already have the right to make important decisions regarding their care. This includes the right to consent to or refuse lifesaving medical treatment. We recommend that the informed consent of a competent parent or guardian be required for eligible minors 12-15 years of age inclusive, and that MAID assessors be required to consult a competent parent or guardian for eligible minors aged 16-17. The most important criteria in Canada’s assisted dying law is the ability to provide informed consent to the procedure. We do not advocate for MAID for infants as they cannot provide consent.

Myth: Broadening MAID law is a slipperly slope into coercion and assisted dying on demand.
Fact: The criteria for eligibility for MAID are clear: a person must have a serious and incurable illness, disease or disability, be in an advanced state of irreversible decline in capability, and they must be experiencing intolerable suffering caused by the illness, disease or disability or state of decline.

Poverty, short intervals of depression, or feelings of being a burden do not qualify a person for MAID.

No one can be forced into accessing MAID. It is a decision made by free and informed individuals after having been offered alternative means to relieve their suffering. Suffering caused by social or financial factors may contribute to someone applying for medical assistance in dying, but that application would not be approved based on those factors. MAID assessors carefully assess a person’s reasons for applying for MAID to ensure there are no signs of coercion.

“Neither the national data in Canada or Quebec nor the foreign data indicate any abuse, slippery slope or even heightened risks for vulnerable people when imminent end of life is not an eligibility criterion for medical assistance in dying,” as concluded by Madam Justice Christine Baudouin in Truchon v. Quebec.”

American Scientist Who Worked for Wuhan Lab Claims COVID-19 Was ‘Genetically Engineered’

An American scientist who worked at a research laboratory in Wuhan, China, has claimed that the novel coronavirus was a “genetically engineered agent” that leaked from the U.S.-funded facility.

It was reportedly exposed by Dr. Andrew Huff, an epidemiologist and former vice president of EcoHealth Alliance, in “The Truth About Wuhan” book, in which he referred to the pandemic as “the biggest U.S. intelligence failure since 9/11.”

In his book, Huff says the COVID-19 virus was genetically engineered through China’s gain-of-function experiments—which modify the way an organism functions—funded by the United States government, The Sun reported.

He said that EcoHealth spent years teaching the Wuhan Institute of Virology the “best existing methods to engineer bat coronaviruses to attack other species,” and that China was aware “that this was a genetically engineered agent.”

“The U.S. government is to blame for the transfer of dangerous biotechnology to the Chinese,” he told The Sun. “I was terrified by what I saw. We were just handing them bioweapon technology.”

Huff claimed that China’s gain-of-function experiments were carried out with poor control measures, which led to the lab leak at the Wuhan lab.

“EcoHealth Alliance and foreign laboratories did not have the adequate control measures in place for ensuring proper biosafety, biosecurity, and risk management, ultimately resulting in the lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” he wrote in the book.
EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that aims to prevent the emergence of new infectious diseases, has been studying bat-related coronaviruses with funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The group established ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
“Nobody should be surprised that the Chinese lied about the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 and then went to extraordinary lengths to make it appear as if the disease naturally emerged,” Huff added.
