A hermit thrush is a small, brown bird with a reddish-brown tail and a distinctive, clear, flute-like song. It is often found in forests and wooded areas, where it forages for insects and fruit on the ground. It has a slender, graceful appearance, with a long, curved bill and long, thin legs. The hermit thrush is a migratory bird, and can be found throughout much of North America during the breeding season, although it spends the winters in Central America and Mexico. Its beautiful song is often heard in the early morning or late evening, and is a beloved sound of the forest.
