Bikepacking the Tuscany Trail 2022 - Monteriggioni, Siena and Crete Senesi - The Bike Challenge

Day 3 was an easier day, although a bit longer than usual, with less climbing but more technical terrain as we ventured to Monteriggioni through single track, mud, rocky climbs, and stunning scenery.
The Monteriggioni gravel climb was a tough one, with 24% throughout with some steeper bits at the end. I managed to climb to the top without losing traction, but was beaten by the last steep bit by the gate and some walkers not giving me space :p

After a short lunch break (which wasn't so good, avoid eating there), we had fun on a nice switchback road descent, some more singletrack through the woods, and finally got to Siena after a 1km toughie that tested our resolve.

Siena is usually ok for bikes, but due to the TT, we had to walk most of the way as there were some issues the day before due to some idiots.

After Siena, we cycled a bit more to get to the famous Crete Senesi, one of the most beautiful scenery we have seen on the Tuscany Trail so far. Winding gravel roads for miles, with beautiful 360 degrees landscapes around. Tough ups and downs but totally worth it.

We slept in a friend's garden near Monte D'Arbia ready for day 4 and 5!
