Initially, the term lo-fi was a characteristic of the quality of music recording, that is, the imperfection of sound equipment. But in the 1990s, this term began to denote a special musical style.

The lo-fi style gained worldwide recognition in the early 90s - with the success of the Californian team Pavement, real rebels who were proud of their hooligan image and anti-promotion.
