You learn the difference between 'Myth' and 'Legend' in English.
In Spanish 'mito' isn't always 'myth'.
Myth (mito). A story, person or something that is regarded as not true and with no evidence. The Loch Ness Monster. Dragons. An 'Urban myth': a popular belief : " Men drive better than women." un mito urbano.
Legend 1. . A famous person or celebrity . Often dead but can be a 'living legend' .
Legend 2. A story with some historical evidence or based on a supposed real person. More than a myth. The Legend of Saint George (the Patron Saint of England) and the Dragon.
Saint George's Day is celebrated in England on the 23rd April, although it's not a bank holiday. The Saint George's cross is the English Flag. The Union (Jack) flag, (for example, the mug (tazón) I was holding) is the British flag for the whole United Kingdom.
