INTRODUCTION to PANKRARION ORTHOMAXIA martial arts.
Pankration Orthomaxia as a System and Style
In ancient Greek,
Pankration translates to “holder of all”
Orthomaxia translates to “upright in battle”
The founders of Panktration are said to have been Heracles and Thesues who combined Boxing and Wrestling to be refined later in the ancient Olympic Games.
Othomaxia “style” has concepts and principles of fighting that make it distinct. Orthomaxia also allows enough space for the individual practitioner. It is eclectic and encourages evolution.
System:
Includes the overall concepts of fighting that serve as the foundation from which the combat develops and extends through its founder.
For example, Kung Fu founded by Bodhidharma, Karate by Funakoshi, Jiu Jutsu by Tenenouchi and Krav Maga by Lichtenfeld.
Style:
Developed within a system of fighting by the dedicated lives of individual masters. It includes Strategy, Tactics and the masters’ personal Preferences.
For example, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Kyokushin Karate and Gracie Jiu Jutsu.
A key objective of Orthomaxia, is to fight on one’s feet and on realistic ground surfaces.
Modern Boxing, and the Boxing Defences are at the core of Orthomaxia.
Across the decades, developing the conventional sports martial arts applications with Effective Street finishes, fast Reflexes and deeper Skills, Pankration Orthomaxia became my unique Style within the most ancient System.
I observed, practiced, borrowed from, and advanced the most modern fight-systems available in this most unusual modern world era. I shaped the ancient knowledge and added my own life’s fighting experiences.
