Was the resurrection product of cognitive dissonance? | Highlight

When people suffer great agony, they tend to compensate with some kind of hope. Was this the case with the resurrection of Jesus?
Were people so grateful for Jesus' message and so hopeful for the liberation it would bring that when he was crucified, they needed to compensate for this loss with the resurrection story? In this video, you can see Dennis MacDonald explain this point of view and my response to it.
