My Favorite Christmas Gaming Gifts - Nintendo Wii in 2006

Christmas time is here and I am sharing some of my favorite video game gifts that I've gotten, not just at Christmas, but at any time. Make sure you let me know, down in the comments, what some of your favorite video game gifts you've gotten over the years are.

2006 was the year I went through a very tough divorce, but it's also the year the Nintendo Wii came out. I was super excited for this, as I was living in a new state, with very few friends, and little to do. I needed something to occupy my time and give me something to do. The Wii was just the thing.

I pre-ordered my Wii from Gamestop and, unfortunately to me, I traded in my original DS towards it. I had bills to pay, what can I say. I immediately got to playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Wii Sports. I also picked up Component Video Cables to connect to my Toshiba Projection TV (flat panel TVs weren't in the cards yet for me), and also ordered a skin for the system from DecalGirl.com to make it look like an NES. Now, 16 years later, the wrap still looks amazing!

Over the years I have hacked my Wii, installed the Homebrew Channel, and much more. This is such an amazing system that I have loved owning every day I have had it. I have played so many amazing adventures, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Galaxy, Meet the Robinsons, Warrioland, Metroid, and more.

Let me know what some of your favorite video game gifts have been over the years. Have you gotten systems that you wanted and cherished? Was there a specific title that you received that choked you up? Share your stories in the comments as we will be continuing the series throughout the month of December 2022.
