Out of all possible ratings: Terrible, Bad, Average, Good, Great....
My rating, based upon my playthrough experience, is: Average
It's a world of tanks! Wait.... Where did I hear that before? Seek and Destroy is a simple game that is a lot of fun to play around in. You get tanks, you equip tanks with crazy things (Like chainsaws), and you destroy other tanks in missions, arena battles, and other modes. It's simple, it's fun, and it's replayable. After the credits roll, the game continues from the beginning in new game+ mode. Outside of that, there are local multiplayer options and more arena battles to have fun with.
The game is not without it's faults, but I'll dive into that is the review, which justifies my rating.
Graphics: Better than expected. Lots of smoke and effects. The tanks look good, and the battles are large with lots of rendered tanks on screen. While the overall graphical package is lacking a bit, it's not an eyesore.
Controls: Oh my God, here's where things get bad. Default controls are absolutely unplayable. Horrible. It will take you some time to get into the options and map out the controls as you see fit. The saving grace here is you can remap anything, and there's no complex controls. So, the entire experience is totally customizable. However, the controls only save on whatever profile you put them under. This is the reason I didn't do a Battlemode video; I couldn't use my main profile and I'm not doing the remapping process again. A lot of tuning could have gone into the controls, but this was a budget title so....
Gameplay: It is what you make it. There is a ton of customization within weapons and different ways to play. That being said, you're always doing the same thing: blowing shit up. I may be a simple man, but blowing shit up never gets old.
Sound: Loud. Almost an assault on the senses. It's not loud volume-wise, it's just overall loud across the board. Perhaps a better description of the sounds would be cacophony.
Music: Kinda catchy, oddly enough. You have an array of militaristic, triumphant sounding music that fits the destructive gameplay well. Overall, the consistency of the music's in game playtime is a bit much and can get grating.
Story: One's there, but it's totally forgettable. You got bad guys, and good guys. Your job is to kill the bad guys. It provides a backdrop for the destructive gameplay.
Stability/Bugs: No crashes. Noticed a few bugs but nothing that stops progression. Stable game.
Opinions: I wish we had something like this now.
