When You Attack Someone On Social Media Who You Disagree With, You Are Actually Attacking Yourself

When we attack others on social media, it feels great. We think we're doing good because those people we're attacking need to be put in their place. So it makes us feel righteous and empowered to trash them. Unfortunately, in so doing, we are attacking ourselves as well. Anytime we treat someone badly, even if we feel justified, even if we feel they deserve it, our subconscious mind sees it as an unloving act, and it generates guilt, shame and self loathing at a deep, unconscious level. This causes our subconscious mind to punish us and it does so in a variety of self-sabotaging ways. So the next time it occurs to you to trash someone, don't do it. Find another way to express your point of view without diminishing the other person. You'll feel better, you'll like yourself, and your subconscious mind is likely to reward rather than punish you for your actions.
