The California Reparations Task Force Says: $559 Billion Owed #Californiareparations

The California Reparations Task Force has released a report estimating that the state of California Black Residents is owed $559 billion in reparations for the abuse and exploitation perpetrated by white Californians against black people were horrendous.

The report, which was compiled over the course of two years, concludes that the California Black Residents is owed an amount equivalent to the value of property stolen and destroyed during the state's largest racial injustice, the forcible expulsion of over one million people from their homes between 1851 and 1894.

Members of the task force say that the report is the first step in the process of seeking reparations from the state of California. They say that the state has a responsibility to make amends for the harm it has caused to Black communities.
