Inorganic media could allow for an orchid to be up potted indefinitely and 'just filling' the gaps of the bigger pot with more inorganic media. OR?? While that is true, up potting is a great advantage when growing orchids in inorganic media, there comes a time when an orchid needs to be divided, a root ball needs to be cleaned up, aeration and gas exchange needs to be reestablished in the pot etc etc. It benefits any potted orchid to have a good clean up on the root ball, and open up the tight spaces at the base of the orchid. Dendrobium Hibiki is our candidate in this video. While pot bound, I will show you how to get into the centre of the orchid, while still managing to keep viable roots from getting too much damage.
