Brazil's president Jair Bolsonaro attended a graduation ceremony for army cadets in Resende, Rio de Janeiro state, on Saturday.
This is the first public event after losing the elections almost a month ago.
Bolsonaro honoured the newly undergraduate army cadets at the Agulhas Negras Military Academy, where the president graduated in 1977.
Despite his participation in the ceremony, Bolsonaro did not make any speeches.
After losing the elections against former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on October 30, Bolsonaro made a short speech two days later and has been laying low ever since.
Even the president's social media accounts have gone silent – aside from generic posts about his administration, apparently from his communications team.
Also, his live social media broadcasts that, with rare exception, he conducted every Thursday night during his administration have ceased.
The silence marks an abrupt about-face for the bombastic Brazilian leader whose legions of supporters hang on his every word.
