Canada: Gull Bay First Nation files legal action against fed. govt for underfunding of police services

At a news conference on Parliament Hill, Chief Wilfred King from Gull Bay First Nation announces that legal action is being taken against the federal government for its failure to provide equitable funding of First Nation police services, leaving local communities at perpetual safety risk. He is joined by Chantal Bryson, legal counsel for Gull Bay First Nation. The legal action being brought against Public Safety Canada for its First Nation and Inuit Policing Program and its First Nation and Inuit Facilities Program is due to a failure to provide the federal funding required to ensure equitable and adequate police services in Ontario First Nation communities.
