United States is ready to assist with effort to establish peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan
The United States favors direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan and is committed to ensuring peace in the region, U.S. Secretary of State's senior advisor for Caucasus negotiations Philip Reeker said.
Reeker said in a video message circulated by the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan on the results of his visit to Armenia: “The United States has been engaged at top level, including through Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to support direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We are committed to promoting a peaceful future for the South Caucasus region”.
He said the U.S. believes that a lasting direct dialogue - diplomacy, not military action - is the key to attaining peace and a comprehensive settlement of problems. Reeker said: “We all understand that this is not easy but I want to restate what Secretary Blinken said during his meeting in Washington with Foreign Minister Ararat Mizoyan and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The United States is committed to doing everything it can to support your efforts towards a durable peace”.
