After nearly five years of avoiding law enforcement, a child sex offender from Georgia who was wanted on an international warrant was captured on Saturday in Mexico.

In Gwinnett County, Georgia, Brad A. Hatter was detained in 2005 after he made an effort to meet a 9-year-old girl for sex. After first getting in touch with the possible victim online, he organized the meetup. At the meeting place, the police detained him.

Hatter was found guilty of attempting to persuade a juvenile to engage in sexual behavior two years later and given a nine-year prison sentence.

Police say he stopped reporting to his probation officer, stopped signing up as a sex offender, and started running from the law.
