LOVE IS STRANGE - A painting is captured experiences of an individual consciousness

Art lovers who are interested in my work often ask me how I create the my imagery? It is an interesting question and one I gave a lot of thought to which is why I made this video. I wanted to try and capture the feeling of how the "journey" of how a painting begins. It begins with a real experience, in this case from the ending of a intimate relationship. All the memories, all the thoughts and all the feelings from that relationship somehow merge together in the consciousness and over time an idea of an image begins for formulate in the imagination. And then once the painting begins the process itself is an essential part of the creation. Walking to a from my cabin studio in the winter is also part of that creative process as the work I have done, and the work I do the next day, swirl around my core being.
I was very reluctant to sell this one for a long time and refused several offers waiting for just the right person to come along. It was sold in 2018 to a wealthy business woman who had a genuine love of art and she genuinely fell in love with the painting. Even so, it was hard to let go and I miss it terribly. - acrylic on canvas. 120cm x 110cm
