Box making can be used for so many things, it seems endless. In this video I am making a carrying / storage box for holding my photographic gear, especially when I am taking videos and stills out of the workshop. I seem to be acquiring so many bits and pieces of gear it's hard to remember what I should take, what I might need and what I must take ... so to solve that I am making a box that I can use to store most of my gear so that I don't have to go looking for it each time. I may not hold everything, but what I can do is pack the all the things I seldom use in the workshop and that I know I need in the field so that alone will save me the grief of leaving gear at home and making my shoots that more difficult when out of the workshop.
The box is constructed out of baltic birch plywood, a very stable, strong and wood that is lovely to work with. The 1/2" thickness will be more that strong enough and is thick enough that the glued edges will also be strong and tight. I have decided that a recessed handle on the top will allow me to stack things on the box more easily and the 2 clips on the front and the piano hinge on the back means the lid is secure, but easy to open and use.
I'm excited about using this box, it seems like it will work out perfect for what I need, I'm looking forward to giving it lots of in the field use.
