Living by the Wisdom from Heaven

James starts this section with a question of wisdom and understanding. Then immediately challenges his audience to show your wisdom through humility and gentleness. James quickly differentiates the world’s view of wisdom and the biblical view of wisdom. The world’s wisdom includes selfish ambition and bitter jealousy which he states are demonic in nature. James makes a clear distinction of what the fruits of biblical wisdom are. They are peaceable, pure, gentle, considerate, full of mercy, sincere and impartial. Those who sow righteousness (which is pleasing to God) do it in a peaceful manner.
