Winterizing The Chicken Coop | Chicken Vlog | Canadian Winter Preparations

Living in Canada, most people believe when you are winterizing your chicken coop you need to have a heater or heat lap. Even during those -30c and -40c days you do not need to add heat to your coop. Winterizing your chicken coop is not a difficult as you might think. Making sure your chickens have fresh thawed water, proper nutrients, and protection and shelter from the wind are your three most important aspects. Another important decision to make when purchasing your chickens, is trying to find chickens that suit your location. Certain breeds can withhold colder temperatures due to the size of their comb and waddles. This year we are making some changes to our barn to add both of our flocks it but also keep them separated.
