Darby McCarthy life of achievement and dedication to his people is well known, as an Aboriginal man.
Darby knowledge and experience he willingly passed on to the younger generations who he mentored and provided moral and financial support throughout his life too.
As an accredited adviser to the University of Southern Queensland, Darby played an important role in Queensland’s unique ‘Murri court’ system designed to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander offenders to make changes in their lives. ‘The esteem and respect Uncle Darby McCarthy received is evident each time that he sat in the Toowoomba Murri Court,’ the local press reported.
The Darby McCarthy PROJECT “In a Life Time” (Working Title), is a very positive, inspirational story.
A story which shows what a person can achieve when faced with seeming insurmountable odds, but with grit and determination and self-belief they can achieve possibly far more than they could have ever imagined.
