The merry-go-round is a vehicle for games that is very old. The history of merry go rounds begins in the Middle Ages in the 12th century. At that time, equestrian knights practiced war by riding horses circling around the field while dodging scented balls made of clay. The knights would be declared to have passed the test if none of the clay balls hit their bodies.
