Brush Pile Fire Got a Little More HOT Than I Expected!

This bonfire could have gotten out of hand! It burned much hotter and much faster than I thought it would.

This brush pile has been driving me crazy for a while now. The main thing is I hate how it looks in the background of a lot of our videos, but there’s also a concern that it gives predators a place where they can sneak in and surprise our critters. The longer it sits, however, the drier the pile gets and the more careful I have to be about the conditions in which I can light the pile on fire. Too dry or too windy and I could cause a wildfire which is something I do NOT want to deal with.

I’m a chronic over-planner. I’m always trying to plan for the best time to accomplish the multitude of things that I need to do. Oftentimes this means things don’t get done as expeditiously as they should. Burning this pile is a prime example of that but tonight I had the notion and the conditions were right; I’m glad I jumped at the opportunity and got it done.
