Cotopaxi Volcano Update; New Eruption Occurs, Ash Falls in Quito

Cotopaxi just produced a new explosive eruption, causing particles of ash to fall in sections of Quito. Although this eruption was quite small, it likely represents the beginning of a prolonged eruptive episode at the volcano.
